Parents and Friends (P&F) Committee
Who we are and what we do
We are incredibly lucky to be part of such a wonderful and vibrant school. We have all benefited from over 150 years of Bellbrae's rural environment and close-knit community.
Maintaining the wonderful atmosphere at Bellbrae relies on all parents contributing whatever and whenever they can. All input to the school whether formal or informal benefits your child/children’s school experience and is greatly valued and appreciated.
Parents and friends of the school, have a committee that is your link between the families and the school. Everyone is welcome.
Please see our constitution and code of conduct attached.
All parents are welcome.
We meet each term with Principal or Vice-Principal, with smaller meetings as required. Currently meetings occur on a Friday afternoon 2.30-3.30 on the second week of term.
We have an annual Annual General Meeting in March.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Parents and Friends are:
- to contribute to the wellbeing of the school community
- to encourage the participation of all parents in the life of the school and the education of their children
- to provide opportunities for all parents of students of the school to discuss issues concerned with the welfare and the general education policy of the school and to assist in the development of a shared parent view
- to contribute to proposals on school policy and other educational issues to the school council
- to provide opportunities for parents to get to know each other and to be informed about their child’s school
- to provide information for parents to extend their understanding of school issues
- to work in cooperation with the school council and the principal
- to raise funds for the benefit of the school.
We try to choose a few interesting fundraising activities for the school each year with an emphasis on fun. Our regular activities include the end of each term whole school kids BBQ , mother and fathers' day stalls, foundation parents welcome BBQ and Teachers end of year luncheon.
A few extra events are scheduled through the year to bring school families together.
We also aim to be the voice through which parent can raise matters. The principal Mr Adrian Waters or vice principal Mr Stu McCoombe attend meetings and encourage all feedback.
We enjoy a good relationship with staff representatives on the committee and have found ways to solve issues together.
Communication is vital to the school community and the committee running effectively. If you are interested in being involved in any capacity please email or phone one of our parent reps as outlined below.
To be supplied after AGM.
The Bellbrae Primary School facebook page is a closed group. It was set up by Parents and Friends in Jan 2013, has over 200 members and is growing. It can be used to organise an inclusive event, post a question, respectfully express an opinion. We aim for a positive and constructive experience. Complaints and disputes are best directed personally to Parents and Friend's representatives or directly to the school. No advertising is permitted on the site.
It is found on http://www.facebook.com/groups/135790323252561/
Email the office to request to join. Please see attached instructions to join.
How to get involved
There are so many ways to get involved at the school.
While not all parents can spare the time to attend meetings due to work and other commitments, all help is supported and valued by the school. We are always looking for new members of the school P&F committee. As the school has grown over the last few years, it has become even more necessary to have parents take on both formal and supportive roles within this committee. Nominations are now open for the following Parents and Friends positions this year: Secretary, Vice President and President. The election will be held at the AGM. Please click here for the nomiation form.
This can occur in many ways: helping out with end of term BBQ's, mother's and father's day stalls, fundraising and social events. We are always willing to hear new ideas and feedback.
